"If every 8 year old in the world is taught meditation, we will eliminate violence from the world in one generation." - His Holiness the Dalai Lama
We want young people to experience the true beauty of sport.
Why? There are two main reasons:
1) We know that a wonderful experience of sport can improve children's lives, and promote lifelong physical and mental health.
2) We understand that sport for social change efforts actually begin right here, with Physical Education classes. This is where we can change what sport means for young people. It's wholesome, not stressful. It's fun, not scary. It's about doing your best, not about being compared with others. It's about cultivating a true athlete spirit and taking that spirit into all our life's endeavours. Compassion, bravery, humility, positivity, mindfulness - it all starts here.
"At St. Peter's, Parfitt turns PE classes into a place where everyone is an athlete. He teaches kids about nutrition, positive imagery and gratitude. Athletics becomes less about battle-ball and more about soul-craft." - David Cook, Chattanooga Times
How do we do it? We have reinvented what a typical PE class looks like. It's fun, it's active, but it's also meaningful and shows children that sport isn't just something that gets offered twice a week until the age of eighteen - it's a way of life. Sport helps us to grow as an individual, to be expressive, to learn about others, and to discover new things.
