Coaching the young human animal: a big picture orientation
Nov 7th @10am ET
Modern athletics has a lot to offer and for many players and coaches, it’s a path to
improved health, community, and enjoyment. And while it’s often a positive force in
young people’s lives, sport also has a shadow side that threatens to compromise the
entire enterprise. In this 2 hour session, we’ll take an expansive view of athletics in the
context of modern society. With an emphasis on health and relevance, we’ll explore the history of the human body, functional movement, rewards, stress, and experiential
design. This session may well revise your approach to teaching, coaching, and
mentoring young athletes, as well as athletes of all ages.
