Our TAP Speaks video series helps us to showcase how a more holistic approach to sport can bring tremendous benefits to society.
We believe athletes have a crucial role to play in changing the world and so we are proud to share our first TAP Speaks video: 'Athlete Activism and the Olympics' by Dr. Jules Boykoff, Professor of political science at Pacific University in Oregon, former US soccer player, and author of Power Games – A Political History of the Olympics.

This talk gives an introduction to the inherently political nature of sport and the Olympics in particular, and highlights specific cases of Olympic athlete activism over the last 100 years, up to the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. The overriding message of Dr. Boykoff is to educate and inspire athletes to take notice of what is going on around them, in their own communities and/or around the world; and, if they choose to engage on issues, to do so thoughtfully and actively.

We also produced eight "TAP Speaks: with British Fencing" videos which showcased gave a platform to the mentors and mentees on our TAP-BF mentoring programme to speak about the issues that matter to them, and share new found holistic training techniques with the wider fencing community.
