Chattanooga Central High School Case Study
Thanks to funding from Unum in Chattanooga, we were able to provide Chattanooga Central High School with a season of mindful sport programming.
The True Athlete Project is thrilled to announce the commencement of a partnership with Chattanooga Central High School, marking a significant step in our commitment to fostering resilience and wellbeing among student-athletes.
In this pioneering collaboration, The True Athlete Project will be working closely with Central's women's basketball team, introducing a tailored pilot program, a 6-month course of training and support designed to build caring sports environments that prioritize the welfare and wellbeing of student-athletes. The program seamlessly integrates TAP's 4 M's—mindfulness, mentoring, mental skills training, and mental health support—into dynamic and engaging strength and conditioning sessions.
About the Partnership:
This strategic partnership aims to empower the young athletes of Chattanooga Central High School's women's basketball team by equipping them with essential life skills that extend beyond the court. Student-athletes will be supported in implementing practical techniques to aid their wellbeing and performance, and will learn how to use their platform and growth through sport to affect positive change within their communities.
The Pilot Program:
The pilot program is designed to revolutionize the traditional approach to athlete development. The program's core focus is on developing resilience, self-efficacy, boosting confidence, and enhancing overall wellbeing, all while ensuring a joyful and enriching experience for the players. By incorporating TAP's 4 M's into strength and conditioning sessions, the program seeks to create a holistic and comprehensive training experience for the student-athletes.
We’re very excited to support a new group of “true athletes”, and help them realize that their journey through sport can be far more meaningful than the traditional notions of measuring our success by a win-loss ratio.
